RocheNovember 2010 - C.R.O.S.S. funded Ph D. Student wins prestigious Award

C.R.O.S.S. charity-funded Ph.D. student Niamh Lynam-Lennon was awarded the ‘Roche Researcher of the Year’ Award at the annual Trinity College Dublin Institute of Molecular Medicine conference held in November 2010.

Sponsored by leading international healthcare company Roche, this was the first time this highly competitive award was presented to a postgraduate student. Niamh received the award for her work investigating the mechanisms by which oesophageal cancer cells are resistant to radiation treatment.

Niamh successfully obtained her PhD in January 2011, becoming Dr. Lynam-Lennon and has since joined the research group at the Institute of Molecular Medicine at St. James’s Hospital to continue her research in this important area.
